Keep an eye out for our new Enrichment Podcast!

During the end of 2024 we have been busy creating a podcast working with the fabulous MIC Media. This podcast is part of the Enrichment Partnership Pilot programme and it is all about enrichment for young people in schools and enriching opportunities in the community.

We have created this podcast for staff in schools, teachers and enrichment providers to learn more about how they may develop enrichment opportunities for young people especially in secondary schools. We have been interviewing lots of amazing people from a variety of sectors, asking them various questions about enrichment for young people. We had the pleasure of interviewing teachers, parents, enrichment providers, CEO's of local businesses, founders, grant manager from the National Citizen's Trust (NCS), partnerships officer from The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) and young people from a school in Tameside.

We held these interviews in some schools in Tameside (Hyde High School, Rayner Stephens and Fairfield High School for girls) as we had some of the pupils from the schools help us set up the equipment and were assistant producers for the podcast. Vic from MIC Media thoroughly explained and showed the pupils how to set up the equipment and how to produce a podcast. This was a great enrichment experience for the pupils and they were really intrigued and excited about witnessing how a podcast is produced. We have also recorded the podcast at the PIE office and online.

When interviewing the guests, from different sectors and viewpoints, for this podcast we had some very interesting discussions about different aspects of enrichment for young people. With the different guests we discussed what enrichment is, the value of enrichment, how it benefits young people, where schools can find enrichment opportunities and effective ways of delivering enrichment. We had some great tips from enrichment/personal development leads at schools on how they develop their schools enrichment offer and some of the barriers they face when trying to do this.

Also, we had enrichment providers share how they create relationships with schools and tips on how schools can engage with eternal enrichment providers and offer creative enrichment experiences. We had the privilege of talking to parents and employers about the importance of enrichment for young people, especially the benefits that enrichment has for when young people leave school and step into the working world. This is just some of the topics we covered when creating this podcast, please keep an eye out for more information about this podcast and keep an eye out for the release date!

PIE and MIC Media also hosted training in podcast production for teachers/staff from multiple schools in Tameside. They attended a 2 hour podcast training where they learned all about the power of creating a podcast and how popular and effective it is for the consumers. They were taken through the specific tools to use and the ways to create an effective, successful podcast. The schools/staff were given a podcast starter kit with some great equipment to use to create a podcast club at their school. We had some great feedback from this session and the schools have already created their own podcast clubs with students which have been amazing to see!

Again, please keep an eye out for more information about this podcast and keep an eye out for the release date! Also, keep a look out for the fab podcasts which the schools are currently creating!
