This month has been a busy one for our in school sessions! As well as our regular programmes running throughout the school year in Leeds and Blackpool, Beth and I have been conducting preparatory sessions in every secondary school/college in Stockport. That’s a whopping total of 16 schools/colleges in 3 weeks!
The aim of these sessions is to prepare students for the L!STEN Youth Summit which is taking place on 6th February at Stockport Town Hall. The aim of the summit is to engage young people in considering the future of Stockport and the council’s One Future plan by getting their views heard and allowing them to participate in a range of workshops. The Youth Summit has been organised and planned by the L!STEN steering group which is made up of a small group of young people, supported by PIE and Stockport Council. It was important for us that an event for young people was primarily designed by young people!
Our time in school has highlighted what’s really important to young people and what they think of the One Future plan. We have been super impressed by the discussions we’ve had so far and can’t wait for the video montage of these to be shown at the Summit! The students also prepared a range of great questions for our panel, a select few of these will be answered on the day.
We are so excited for the Summit here at PIE and can’t wait for all our young people from all over Stockport be under one roof!
