We are extremely proud to announce that we have been selected to lead a new youth panel looking to gather youth voice, and ensure young people's voices and opinions are heard and responded to in Stockport.
The 'Youth Alliance' (a final name for the project will be confirmed soon!) is a collaboration between PIE, Stockport Council and local community group Autisk.
Over the next three years, we will look to ensure we are engaging with as many young people across Stockport as possible to ensure that voices are heard, youth issues are discussed, and that this information is appropriately fed back to members of the council to help inform future planning.
We will be working to complete the following as part of the programme:
Lead monthly meetings of an established youth panel who will discuss key issues and collate thoughts and opinions each month.
Engage monthly with SEND families through sessions led by Jan and the team at Autisk.
Work with other local community groups to ensure young people from across the Borough are given the chance to have their voices heard.
Link in with our local high schools to work with their student councils and wider school populations.
We will be running bi-annual youth led events - including family fun days and an annual youth summit. We will also be working to develop youth led social action projects to help ensure they are working to campaign for issues they care about and help lead change across Stockport.
We will be having our first meeting to plan out priorities for the next year on Thursday 1st June from 2-4pm. This session will also see us deciding on a final name for the project, along with designing branding for the project.
