We’re super excited to share that we have been successful in our application for the Hate Crime Awareness grant from Manchester City Council. Following the discussions and learning from our shorter sessions last year at St Anne’s High School, Bramhall High School, Aquinas College and Chorlton High School we knew there was more work to do in terms of young people and hate crime!
This year we are working with Burnage Academy for Boys and The East Manchester Academy to make a difference in their community and we’re super excited to get started!
Our aim is to work with a group of students over the next few months, firstly developing their knowledge and understanding of what hate crime actually is. Following this, they will conduct research in their school and local communities investigating the issues prevalent in their area. Then students will create a social action campaign based on their findings, showcasing this on social media and within their schools and launched through a planned event.
We’ve met the groups this week and already know they will be amazing ambassadors for their school and will create some real change with creative ideas! Look out for their progress on social media!
