Over Christmas we ran our third successful HAF Project in Marple! The Holiday Activities and Food Programme is the Department for Education's funding, via Stockport Local, aiming to offer young people the chance to attend activities and get a free lunch during the school holidays.
This holiday, we supported twenty families with food bags and recipes to feed the whole family over the Xmas period. Each family was also provided with three days of craft activities including a NYE party bag for the family to enjoy.
On Wednesday 29th December our HAF families were invited to take part in our online family quiz! Lots of games, dressing up and general madness for an hour! Our well deserved winners ‘ The Camerons’ won a £30 Amazon voucher!
Monday 3rd January was our cinema trip - we took 20 children to Marple Cinema to watch “Ron’s Gone Wrong” followed by lunch and a freezing cold play in the park.
On Tuesday 4th January we took our HAF children on the bus to Stockport, we had lunch at McDonald’s followed by a special tour of Stockport County!
Wednesday 5th January we were back at The Guide Hut for crafts, games and a tasty lunch from Start Point Cafe.
Gemma had this to say,"Christmas HAF has been fantastic! I've enjoyed reconnecting with our families, as well as welcoming new ones. It's been brilliant to see the kids laughing, having fun and building friendships."
Caroline said, "We had such good fun and enjoyed doing different activities each day this time round. The kids were fantastic and loved each day, all they want to know is 'when's the next one?'!"
Good question! We can't wait to find out ...
